Silly Safaris has had raging success with our first children's book, The Lightning Bug Queen. If you don't have a copy, go to the Silly Safari Store and order one!

Our next children's book, My Furry Floating Fish Stick, is scheduled for publication in May or June 2010. But we need an illustrator!

This contest is open to High School students.

Imagine if you win, you would have an ILLUSTRATOR CREDIT on a published book with an ISBN number and catalogued at the Library of Congress! Some illustrators wait their whole professional life for that!

Here are the general requirements:

2 Illustrated submission due March 15, 2010.

If you are selected, you must maintain a professional schedule. All illustrations are due by May 1, 2010. Total number of illlustrations for the book will be between 8 and 15.

Preliminary Illustration Specifications:

• Art to be created on a mix of 10 x 10-inch and 10 x 20-inch canvases, the latter dimensions to be used as 2-page spreads
• 4-color illustrations
• Artist’s preferred medium
• Accurate animal portrayal
• Digital illustrations must be scanned at high resolution of 600 dpi or higher
• Considered art must be original, non-published work
• Selected art will become the copyright property of Silly Safaris, with illustration credit only given to the artist.

• Do not send original artwork
• High-resolution scans may be submitted via email or printed for mail submission to Silly Safaris
• Submitting artists under the age of 18 must have the written consent of a parent or legal guardian
• Art that is submitted via mail will not be returned
